SEPIA SATURDAY #149 10/27/12 Vintage 1900s Postcard Apostle Island Lake Superior

Saturday and time for Sepia Saturday. I am sharing this great vintage postcard of Drill Point Apostle Island on Lake Superior. Apostle Island is in Wisconsin. This postcard is from the early 1900s.

Sender has written on the back in pencil and is for Mrs Alva Todd. There is no stamp on postcard. Fun to peak into others past with these old post cards but they can be hard to read at times.
Check out what others are sharing at Sepia Saturday of UK.
The post card must of been delivered since there is no address or post mark. By reading card I can tell you that Mrs Alva Todd is also known as coz Carrie.
The writer tells us that she has not written lately since she has been reading novels all her time and feels naughty but is nice to do.
Hard to make out but looks like some ones grand dad cut his suspenders and went straight up. Not sure what that means. She asks about the children and Carries old man.
To bad that we do not know who these people are and that is was separated from their family treasures.
Clues are the name Alva Todd and first name Carrie. With a little work on ancestry may be able to find a relative.

Hope that you are enjoying this vintage treasure I am sharing today. This link will take you to Wisconsin Historical information on Apsotle Island.  Grace

SEPIA SATURDAY # 148 RPPC Men in Military Uniforms WWW1

Sepia Saturday today is about uniforms, bikes or maybe guns.  This party is put on by Sepia Saturday of the UK.
My posting is all about the uniform, lots of you men in uniforms. So many men climbing the stairs, laying on the ground and even 2 young men leaning out the windows.
This is a vintage real picture post card that has no stamp area or any identification. Two of the men have bands with a cross on their sleeves.

Not sure who these men are or what county they are from but my guess is WWW1 because of the post card having no stamp area and this came in a group of foreign post cards.
Take a look and let me know if you have any information to share about the uniforms.
Thanks for stopping by. Click on the Sepia Saturday link to see what others are sharing. Grace
