Sepia Saturday today is about uniforms, bikes or maybe guns. This party is put on by Sepia Saturday of the UK.
My posting is all about the uniform, lots of you men in uniforms. So many men climbing the stairs, laying on the ground and even 2 young men leaning out the windows.
This is a vintage real picture post card that has no stamp area or any identification. Two of the men have bands with a cross on their sleeves.
Not sure who these men are or what county they are from but my guess is WWW1 because of the post card having no stamp area and this came in a group of foreign post cards.
Take a look and let me know if you have any information to share about the uniforms.
Thanks for stopping by. Click on the Sepia Saturday link to see what others are sharing. Grace

Wow! What an interesting postcard! I wonder where the photo was taken.
ReplyDeleteThe crosses could be Red Crosses? The case in the middle shows what is possibly a German word ending with "ülkasten" which could be "spülkasten" (cistern). The caps are very distinctive so maybe someone will recognize those. Nice riddle!
ReplyDeleteI didn't expect to see so much when I enlarged the card. Intriguing!
ReplyDeleteThanks Bob for pointing that out. This is a great postcard. There are even men in windows to fit with the theme. I'll be curious to see what others might know about this card.
ReplyDeleteSuperb postcard.
ReplyDeleteThis is a fantastic card. I agree with Peter, although I am almost certain the box is a Müllkasten (garbage bin).
ReplyDeleteThey are German soldiers from World War 1, perhaps ambulance drivers based on the Red Cross armband that Peter pointed out. The caps are a very distinctive German style and can sometime identify the regiment if you have the colors, which sepia tone does not reveal.
ReplyDeleteWho ever they are, they are very interesting to see. A great bunch, especially the two in front on the ground...having quite a bit of fun!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely worth enlarging for the detail.
ReplyDeletethanks for all your postings. It is a very interesting post card. Thanks for all the help with identify it.
ReplyDeleteAre they all on a smoke break? I see cigars and pipes.
ReplyDeleteI think it is a military photo, but at first glance it could almost be a prison yard! They are a rag-tag bunch, aren't they?
ReplyDeleteThat's an interesting photo wherever it is. I especially like the man in the window.
