VINTAGE POSTCARD Down Town Chicago 1950's Vintage Thingies Thursday

Today's vintage postcard is of Chicago again. This one is probably from the early 1950's judging by the cars.

This one is of down town Chicago. Looking north on State Street toward intersection of Washington and Randolph streets.

Post card states that here are the two busiest corners of America's second largest city.
I love old post cards they can be great additions to family history. One of my ancestors lived in Chicago back in the 1890's but only stayed a few years. I have visited only once but hope to make it back again some day.
I will be sharing this over at vintage thingies thursday
Thanks for stopping by... hope to see you again here soon... Grace

Today's vintage post card is of the Hotel Sherman in Chicago Illinois and is postmarked 1943.
The Sherman is undoubtedly one of the most famed hotels in the United States. Located in Chicago's Loop. It has 1,700 rooms.
Look at the great cars and even a vintage bus parked in front of the hotel. I love these old hotel postcards.

Happy Thanksgiving Day 1913 Vintage Postcard Turkey Day #5 on Friendship Friday

This is the last of the Thankgiving cards I bought a couple of weeks ago when I went Antiquing. Hopefully I have a couple of more to share with you in the future.

These vintage postcards are so colorful. This one is also dated 1913 and was mailed on Nov 21 to

Master LaRue Friend of O' Fallon from Uncle Charlie and Aunt Nel.

The Thanksgiving cards I have posted recently all came from the same family estate. Sad that some one no longer has this great family history in their collection.
Hope that you have enjoyed these Thankgiving cards, will have to search for any others I have.
Thanks for stopping by for Friendship Friday... take a look at others post and leave a message to let them know you stopped by. http://www.cpaphilblog.com/2008/11/talking-turkey-vintage-postcards.html

A Festival of Postcards SIGNS

What better way to start my blog than to join the carnival at http://acanadianfamily.com/. This month is about " SIGNS "
These are a couple of postcards I found at Antique stores. I am always on the look for postcards for my own collection or to resell on eBay.
My first post card is of downtown Denver, Colorado Sixteenth and Arapahoe Street. We can see the Post Office , Tammen Curio Company and at the right hand upper corner is a building listed as the Mining Exchange. Back of post card shows that that Charles Tucker of Del Norte Colorado had ordered something from the Tammen Company and they are acknowledging receipt of that order. Post card is dated 5/25/08
The second post card is newer and is showing the Union Stock Yards in Chicago. Showing is a Armour and a Swift sign.
It is a Curt Teich & Co. post card which is stated lower left corner.
I have a guide to help date post cards but this post card is newer than my guide goes, so I am still trying to date. Has stamp square for a one cent stamp. I am guessing around 1950 is when this post card was made. If anyone can help me I would appreciate help dating this post card.
